Weddings & Blessings

Wedding2

Getting married or having a blessing in church marks a new chapter in your relationship and more! You will marry in the presence of God and you will receive God's love and help as you make your promises to each other. We will also pray that God's Holy Spirit will journey with you into your life together. Your wedding is also in the context of community - yes, family and friends who come to witness your wedding, but also the family of St John's who will pray for you and see you as part of the community of the church. If you choose St John's, you will receive plenty of support and love to help you plan your special day.

Can I get married or have a blessing at St John’s?

To get married at St John's, one or both of you need to live in the Parish of St John's or have a 'qualifying connection' to the church if you live elsewhere. This means you either attend church services regularly or have some family connection that can be proven. Once you have chosen to get married at St John’s a priest will work through various legal, practical and spiritual matters with you to prepare for your wedding.

What will it cost?

This is your special day and we would like to make it personal to you. The total cost depends on the format you choose for your wedding. Some costs are statutory and are set by Parliament while others depend on the choices you make and what you wish to include. In total this means the church costs will be somewhere in the region of £500 - £1000.

Who do I contact?

To find out more, please contact the Parish Office office@stjhurstgreen.co.uk. The priest who will be taking your wedding service will then contact you to arrange a meeting to talk about your hopes for your wedding and beyond, and to support you through the process.

There is also a Church of England website which is very helpful https://www.yourchurchwedding.org/
